Manchester United enjoyed a landmark season by winning the European Cup Winners’ Cup, defeating Barcelona 2–1 in the final in Rotterdam. Mark Hughes scored both goals against his former club, delivering Sir Alex Ferguson his first major European trophy at United and helping restore the club’s standing in European football. The victory was the culmination of a rebuilding process that had begun with Ferguson’s arrival in 1986 and provided a major confidence boost for the years ahead. United’s European success continued in November 1991, when they beat European champions Red Star Belgrade 1–0 in the UEFA Super Cup, with Brian McClair scoring the only goal.

Hi, I’m Dale

I’m the person behind MadeByDale and this website. It’s a passion project, built by a fan, for fans who love the shirts as much as the football.

My goal

To make the most fun and immersive way to explore Manchester United’s shirt history, season by season: every shirt, the trophies won, the players who made the difference and the stories behind each campaign, all in one place.

Keeping it going

The site is free to explore. If you enjoy it, an optional donation helps me cover hosting and domain costs and gives me the time to keep it updated, add more seasons and expand on specific years with deeper stories, stats and shirt details. No pressure at all: sharing the site with another fan helps just as much.
