2011 - 2012 Manchester United home, away and third shirts
The Title Lost in the Final Seconds
United endured one of the most painful title races in Premier League history, finishing second to Manchester City on goal difference after both teams ended the season with 89 points. Ferguson’s side had held a substantial lead during the campaign, but dropped points in the closing weeks allowed City to draw level. On the final day, United beat Sunderland 1–0 through a Rooney goal, only for City to snatch the championship with Sergio Agüero’s stoppage-time winner against Queens Park Rangers. United also suffered an early Champions League exit, finishing third in their group before dropping into the Europa League, where they were eliminated by Athletic Bilbao. It was a season defined by the narrowest of margins, with United missing out on silverware despite winning 28 league matches.
