2004 - 2005 Manchester United home, away and third shirts
Close, but No Silverware
United finished third in the Premier League behind Chelsea and Arsenal, with Chelsea’s defensive consistency making them difficult to catch. Wayne Rooney arrived from Everton and quickly became one of United’s most important players, combining goals, energy and creativity in attack. One of the campaign’s biggest moments came when United beat Arsenal 2–0 at Old Trafford, ending the Gunners’ 49-match unbeaten Premier League run. United reached the FA Cup final but lost to Arsenal on penalties after a goalless draw, with Paul Scholes missing his spot-kick. Despite several memorable performances, the season ended without a major trophy, increasing the pressure on United to challenge Chelsea more strongly in the following campaign.
